National Intercollegiate Championships finals (Mar
28, 2004) |

Jack
Huczek and Kristen Walsh were each able to earn their
third national intercollegiate titles,
while the University of Alabama won its first
one on Saturday at the 2004 USA
Racquetball National Intercollegiate Championships
in Fountain Valley/CA. Over 40 schools were represented by
270 of the country’s best racquetball players during the
four day long event. |

doubles final at the 26th Dutch Open

Joachim Loof and Torsten Krieger were behind 1-10 in the
tie breaker against v. Doezum/v.
d. Holst but were able to win
the game and an exciting match 11-10.
Martin Klippel claimed a victory over
Trevor Meyer in the all German Mens Singles Final.

The 2004
Wilson USA Racquetball National High School
Championships presented by Penn Racquet Sports concluded
Sunday at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon.
Joey Lakowske (Crescent Valley/Oregon) and Kelley Fisher
(Centerville/Ohio) each earned national titles in the
boy's and girl's No.1 singles division, respectively. |

Cameron
White (picture) and Judy Wright took
out the 2004
Australian Open titles. Cameron White has made a
successful return to Bairnsdale winning his third
Australian and also defending his 2003 title while Judy
has dominated women's Racquetball over the last couple of
years and this year seemed to be no
exception when beating
fellow Profile racquetballer Jade Smith in a straight 2
game match. |

Nearly
300 of the USA’s best high school
racquetball players have traveled to Portland, Oregon to
compete in the 2004 Wilson USA Racquetball (USAR) National
High School Championships. Play began Thursday at the
Multnomah Athletic Club and will continue through Sunday
when the finals will take place. |

Dutch Open 2004 will be held on March 19-21. The event is
organised by the Dutch Racquetball
Association and will bring players from
all over Europe, the USA and other countries to Zoetermeer.

Beginners Tournament a success (Feb

The 1st
Ladies Beginners Tournament in Rosarito, Mexico has been a
great success. According to IRF Vice President Rosy Torres
for Women's Programs, tournament entries have been way
over expectations and even afterwards, ladies who had no
partner before exchanged telephone numbers to keep in
touch.

The US
Forces in Europe Racquetball Championships took place in
Schweinfurt, Germany at the Kessler Fitness Center on
February 7-8. US citizen Curtis Morgan, who currently
lives in Germany, took first place in the Mens Open
division

10 years after they
last teamed up to win the National Open Doubles title,
Noel O Callaghan teamed up with Christy Slattery to win
the Open doubles at the Moylagh Open. In the final they
defeated J. Gannon/S.
Watters in straight games. Noel got back to winning ways
in the Open singles, defeating Gannon
in the final 2-0. Susan Neary won the Womens Open singles
thanks to a close win over Elma Gibney in the final.

Pascal Matla Sportsman of the year (Feb

Dutch National Team Member
Pascal Matla has been elected Sportsman of the year 2003
in his hometown Zoetermeer. Matla, who us also General
Secretary of the European Racquetball Federation (ERF)
has
achieved many major successes in the year 2003, including
his European doubles title together with Edwin Shipper
during the European Championships in July 2003.

Swinging Singles in Victoria (Feb

Twelve of the top women
players and 20 men will be competing in Canada's National
Singles Selection
this weekend in Victoria, British Columbia. The
results will be used to select the Team for this year's
international events: the PanAm Championships in Ecuador
in April, and the World Championships in South Korea in
August.

Williams wins the English Nationals defeating Suffolk's
Andy Oswald 14-15, 15-7, 11-0 at the Alconbury Fitness
Center. Essex's Wendy Hackett
won the Ladies title and Suffolk's Tom Aburrow Newman adds
his National Junior Title to his European Title.

wins German Nationals (Feb

Trevor Meyer from Hamburg has won the 23. German National
Championships, defeating 6-time European Champion Joachim Loof in
the final 15-8, 15-9.
Loof succeeded against defending Champion
and top seeded Martin Klippel in the semi final 15-5, 15-6. This
match was the most unexpected result of the event. |

Selection Doubles event will be from Jan 23-25 in Saskatoon
at the River Racquet Athletic Club. On the men's side,
Sherman Greenfeld (Winnipeg) will be playing in his first
national tournament since retiring from singles competition
following the 1999 PanAm Games. Also, former US Open
Champion Christie van Hees is returning to National
competition. |

In an Online voting since November the German RB members have elected Yvonne
Kortes und Joachim Loof (both Hamburg) as Racquetballers of the
year 2003. Loof claimed his 6th European Singles title in 2003
while Yvonne Kortes reached the European finals, only
losing there against Joan Kennedy from Ireland.

The Leinster Open last
weekend saw a big upset when local hero Jimmy Gannon
defeated 13-time National Champion Noel O'Callaghan in 3
games. The Womens draw saw Elma Gibney winning her first
Womens Open division ever by defeating Geraldine Byrne in
straight 2 games.

Martin Klippel has won the French Open final this weekend
against Michiel van der Holst (Netherlands).
Daphne Wannée (NED)
succeeded in the womens draw. The French Open were the
first ERT event of the new year with the Dutch Open in
Zoetermeer (NED) being the next one on the schedule.
