CONRRADO MOSCOSO: “CONTINENTAL RACQUETBALL IS IMPROVING A LOT AND BECOMING MORE DEMANDING”

Panam Sports

The Pan American and World Champion from Bolivia spoke exclusively with Panam Sports ahead of a new Pan American Championship in the sport. He discussed his expectations for Guatemala, how he sees the development of racquetball in recent times, and the formula for becoming one of the sport’s top figures on the “racquetball planet.”

Talking about Conrrado Moscoso is talking about one of the most important and successful athletes in Bolivia and across the Americas.

His achievements speak for themselves: World Champion in 2022 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico; three-time Pan American Champion in Santiago 2023 and Lima 2019; and three-time South American Champion.

He is a sports icon in his country and also at a global level in racquetball.

After a demanding stretch of competitions and training, Conrrado is now in his native Bolivia, preparing for the upcoming Pan American Specific Championship in Guatemala, which begins this Saturday, March 28.

In the midst of his intense training, he took the time to speak with Panam Sports and tell us how he is preparing for this new challenge in his career.

“Honestly, I’m feeling really good. Of course, a bit worn out from the tournaments I’ve played on the professional circuit, but very excited and motivated, and with the same goal of repeating what I’ve done in past years—becoming Pan American champion. That’s the goal, and we’ve worked really hard these past weeks at home to make that happen, recover, and be at full strength for this tournament in Guatemala.”

Does being a role model, Pan American and World Champion put pressure on you?
“Honestly, I don’t see it that way. At the end of the day, we’re all good, we’re all on the same level, because everyone is representing their country and wants to give their best to defend their flag. Every tournament is different. I try to stay very focused—we’ve trained a lot for this goal—and regardless of past results, I need to focus on myself. I believe I have to go out there, give it my all, and show that I’m prepared.”

How do you see this Pan American Championship in Guatemala with the Bolivian team?
“We’re aiming to have a strong competition and stay solid. We’re bringing a team with several junior players, and we hope for a good performance. We have to take it step by step. We need to gradually position ourselves and achieve a good ranking. It’s important for the newer players to gain experience and see what the competitive level is like at the professional and international stage.”

What is your perception of the current state of racquetball in the continent?
“The truth is, it’s improving a lot and becoming more demanding. What I like is that I see more players in the professional circuit and also many juniors. That’s what we’re looking for—for the sport to expand, for new athletes to join, and for us to keep growing. That’s very important and makes me very happy about the current moment.”

What has been the formula or secret behind Conrrado Moscoso’s success?
“I don’t think there’s a specific formula—it’s about the dedication you put into every match, every training session. I believe everything starts with training so that in tournaments you can see the results of all the effort you’ve put in. Dedication, hard work, and consistency in what you do day by day in training lead you to achieve your goals. Everything you train is reflected in competition, and it all depends on you—on your desire and the sacrifice you’ve made to reach your objectives.”

The Pan American Racquetball Championship will take place from March 28 to April 4 and will be broadcast across the Americas and worldwide through the Panam Sports Channel.
